| Bachelor of Technology Program, McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario
February 17, 2008 The purpose of this page is to supply information and resources to students who are currently in the Bachelor of Technology Program, those who might be interested in joining the Program and individuals looking to pursue post B.Tech. graduate level studies whether that be P.Eng. or Masters level academic work. For your information, the Bachelor of Technology is moving in the direction of offering a number of new programs to be jointly delivered by a new College of Engineering and Technology to be at a new McMaster Innovation Park at the former CAMCO plant in Hamilton. It would be a program put on by Mohawk College and McMaster University. Part of the program offerings includes a Bachelor of Technology and Management where it is proposed to offer 7 additional courses to those interested in rounding out their technical education with management courses. Proposed courses at this point (and subject to change) include such things as: financial management, organizational behaviour, human resource management, total quality management, marketing, business policy and an elective. The electives roster tentatively includes: project management, economics, entrepreneurship, finance, technical sales, and a self study/project course. Click here if you would like more information on a selection of management courses that would qualify you for either a certificate or diploma in management studies. This selection of courses is offered under the name of Technology Leadership. The B.Tech. Programs have now evolved to including various study streams including: manufacturing engineering (the original B.Tech. Program), civil and infrastructure, information systems and process automation. In the future, it is anticipated that automotive and vehicular technology, biotechnology and energy management will be offered. If you would like to see more information on the Programs, click here. If you would like to see more, click here to download 2 powerpoint presentations dealing with the proposed Bachelor of Technology Programs. Realize that both pieces (on the left side of the site you are being redirected to) are DRAFT ONLY. It is intended to offer both degree completion programs and an integrated program that would be available to students directly out of highschool. The degree completion program would be the 17 courses that B.Tech. students are familiar with and then 7 courses would be tacked on the end. Thus, degree completion students take 24 courses starting with the fall 2006 intake. The first integrated programs would begin Fall 2008. More information about the new Programs can be found at http://www.mohawkcollege.ca/calendar/fet/McMoPartnership/programs.html Realize that all discussion about these proposed Program changes are in the formative stages only and have not been finalized in any way. If you are an employer or a graduate of the Program and have positions open for our students, contact me, Mike Piczak. We will make it known to the 200+ graduates and the 200-300 students who are presently taking courses. We need to help ourselves and hire each other. Below is a selection of background material that might be of interest to you.
